A lot of people prefer thoroughbred dogs, but there is a lot of charm in a mixed breed. Hybrids take the best of their parents' personalities, and when you mix a chihuahua with another small breed, you get some amazing, adorable little dogs. If you're a fan of this spunky little dog, consider a chihuahua mix.

1

Corhuahua: Chihuahua and Pembroke Welsh corgi

Also called a chigi, the corhuahua is the perfect combination of two playful, loyal, and adorable dogs. Both of the parent breeds are alert, but the chihuahua is more of a lapdog while the corgi is a herding breed. The result is a dog with a balanced temperament that feels just at home in an apartment as it does on the farm.

2

Min chin: Chihuahua and miniature pinscher

Sometimes called a chipin, the min chin is a designer breed that's alert, fearless, and full of energy. Both chihuahuas and miniature pinchers are big dogs in little bodies, so it's no surprise that min chins are the same. They make great watchdogs because they alert you to anything out of the ordinary, but they don't like being left alone for too long and are a bit territorial.

3

Chibo terrier: Chihuahua and Boston terrier

This cross between a chihuahua and a Boston terrier is a small dog with a balance of spunk from its chihuahua side and the calmness of a Boston terrier. They're small enough to thrive in an apartment and do okay when left at home alone, but they love to play. This crossbreed usually has the coloring of a Boston terrier and the tall, pointed ears of a chihuahua.

4

Chug: Chihuahua and pug

Chugs usually maintain the chihuahua's trim figure and inherit the short, wrinkled muzzle of the pug. They are great companion dogs that are fun-loving and affectionate. Their exercise needs are minimal, and their compact size makes them a perfect fit for apartments. Chugs tend to have an independent nature and can be a bit stubborn and difficult to train.

5

Chi chi: Chihuahua and Chinese crested

Chi chis are one of the more unique looking chihuahua mixes, taking on some of the most recognizable traits of the Chinese crested. They don't shed much and may have very little fur, except for the fluffy growth on the face and ears. These little dogs need a lot of attention and love, but their sweet, playful nature makes them an ideal companion.

6

Chi chon: Chihuahua and bichon frise

Chi chons tend to look more like their bichon frise parent, inheriting the bichon's soft, fluffy coat and gentle nature. This mixed breed is better suited to cooler outdoor weather than a chihuahua, which makes them a good choice for someone who wants a chihuahua but lives in a colder climate and likes to spend a lot of time outside.

7

Chiweenie: Chihuahua and dachshund

The chiweenie is one of the most popular chihuahua mixes, and for good reason. They're easy to care for, have low exercise requirements, and are friendly and sociable. Because they love to please their owners, chiweenies are easy to train and a good choice for first-time dog owners. They get along with kids of all ages and other family pets, too.

8

Chipaniel: Chihuahua and cocker spaniel

This chihuahua mix, also called a chi-spaniel, is a little calmer than a purebred chihuahua but still full of energy. They usually inherit the calm demeanor of the cocker spaniel as well as the spaniel's longer, fluffier coat. While they need a little more exercise for their spaniel side, chipaniels make great apartment dogs and do well with children and other pets.

9

Chimeranian: Chihuahua and pomeranian

The chimeranian or pom chi is a lively little dog but not overexcitable. They have a balanced temperament and are affectionate, loving, and willing to please without being dependant or needy. This pup usually inherits the fluffy coat of its pomeranian parent and may require a little more grooming than other chihuahua mixes.

10

French bullhuahua: Chihuahua and French bulldog

Chihuahuas and French bulldogs are two of the most popular companion breeds, and the French bullhuahua mix is an ideal blend of its parents' best traits. They're a little sturdier than chihuahuas and make great playmates for older children. As for temperament, they're devoted, affectionate, and a little less reserved than a purebred chihuahua.
